Each year Kathleen Horvath, Director of Recreation, Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation, orchestrates the most exceptional Veterans Day celebrations for our residents, veterans and staff, and this year was no different!
This year, Kathleen invited the Color Guard to come in and present the colors while the National Anthem played – bringing tears to the eyes of veterans, residents and staff at Candlewood. Residents and veterans waved flags and shared their stories during the course of the day-long festivities. Veterans were honored for their courage and dedication to our country. “It was beautiful to see the young and old holding up the ideals of our country!” shared Kathleen.
In addition to the on-site program, our veterans took a trip down to our lovely village green where they were recognized for their service by Mayor Pete Bass and other service members. They were also given the opportunity to pay tribute to those brothers and sisters who lost their lives defending our country. “This day is always emotional, for all of us, but to see how much it means to our veterans and the generation of residents we work with, makes it that much more meaningful,” said Cindy LaCour, Director of Social Service.
